Do you love finding old, beautiful things that make your home feel really special? There’s just something about sifting through aisles of other people’s old stuff at my favorite Antiques Mall that gives me such a thrill! My favorite local spot is Antiques on 2nd. I could spend hours there hoping to find some sweet vintage find to take home with me!
Besides the fact that buying vintage is so much more interesting than buying something brand new from a chain home store, its GREEN too! Not adding to the bottomless landfills just makes me happy. I don’t always find something great but here are a few lovely things I HAVE found on my antique adventures!
Apartment Therapy does this really cool thing every season where they invite the world to join their Kitchen Cure. It’s a 4-week program designed to get our kitchens clean, healthy and organized. It’s just what I need as I’m making over my kitchen this spring!
So, I’ve committed myself to the 4-weeks and my first assignment is to clean out the pantry. I had tackled the pantry food cabinets this past weekend and I scrubbed, scraped, sanded and painted them as if my life depended on it. I threw out about 5 bags of canned foods, spices and boxed goods…ewww! I had cleaned out the pantry before this of course, but never this thouroughly! The results look great, and I hope that the hubby and the cutie can help me keep it that way!
Anyway, I’m so committed to this and can’t wait until my kitchen has been cured! Here are the before and after pics of week one’s assignment. Btw, it’s not too late to join if anyone’s interested! Go to the Kitchen Cure web site and sign up now!
Poppy Talk Handmade
I recently discovered this really cute site dedicated to all things handmade. I’ve loved Etsy for some years now…and Poppytalk Handmade is just as exciting if not more because of the exclusivity of it. Poppytalk is an online marketplace of handmade and vintage goods. They rotate the “virtual tables” monthly. It’s basically Etsy’s “Greatest Hits.” It’s all very best of the “Handmade” genre. I love it and I know you will too!

Fall shopping is one of my favorite things about this time of year. Wait-actually, shopping any time of the year is fun! I love to shop but, I hardly ever pay full price for anything I buy. If I don’t have a coupon, or it’s not on sale, buying just doesn’t feel right. There are so many of us that have been hit hard by the economic downturn, my family included. I’ve found that since it’s necessary to watch my pennies these days, buying a few accessories here and there has fulfilled my need to spruce up my fall wardrobe without spending a fortune on new sweater dresses and such.
Lately, I’ve been OBSESSED with headbands! Since I cut my hair short, I’ve been having fun with it. There are so many cute ones out right now…and they’re pretty cheap. Here are a few Fall Deals I found around the Net; some accessories for yourself or your home and a few larger pieces that are almost cheap enough to splurge a bit! Enjoy!
