Etsy Love…

I recently purchased recipe cards as part of a Bridal Shower gift for my girlfriend who is actually getting married today!  I bought a griddle from her registry but decided that I had to add a personalized touch to it, because a plain ole’ griddle is just NOT my idea of a great gift for one of my best friends.

So, I scoured Etsy for recipe cards in order to give her some of my favorite recipes to try out  on her new griddle.  I found two really beautiful sets that I loved, and couldn’t decided between them, so ,I bought one set of cards for my friend and one set for me!  I’ve been on a hunt for a set of “non-granny-ish” cards for a really long time before I thought about checking Etsy

You should also know that both sellers were really nice and easy to work with and the items arrived in the mail very quickly!  These girls are so talented and also have more than just recipe cards for sale in their Etsy Shops, so be sure to give them some Etsy Love!

I gave these to my friend

Blueberry Cornmeal Pancakes

It’s still Blueberry season!  I don’t know about you, but my family loves pancakes.  The “little cutie” can eat them everyday if I let her!  Though her pancake of choice is chocolate chip, I happen to love cornmeal pancakes! Here is a Martha Stewart Living recipe I found via Bakerella, which is a baking blog I’m pretty much obsessed with right now.  Aren’t her images amazing?

Blueberry Cornmeal Pancakes

.Pancakes by Bakerella.

You’ll need:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar, plus two tsp for blueberries
1 1/4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

1/4 cup milk

3 Tbsp butter, melted and cooled

1 egg lightly beaten
2 cups blueberries
Extra butter for coating griddle
Maple Syrup
(Makes about 16)

  • Whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda in a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Whisk together buttermilk, milk, butter and egg in medium bowl.
  • Add milk mixture to dry ingredients and whisk together just until combined.
  • Blueberries
  • Toss blueberries in a small bowl with 2 tsp sugar.
  • Heat a griddle over medium heat. Take extra butter and run over surface of griddle. Repeat as necessary throughout process.
  • Pour batter on griddle 1/4 cup at a time.
  • Add some of the sugared blueberries to each pancake.
  • Cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Flip and cook the other side for about 2 minutes.

Mmmm…delish!

I need a new purse…or two!

Summer is almost over (tear) but I’m still on a hunt for the perfect summer bag.  I bought a really cute one at Kohl’s (Daisy Fuentes Line) a few months ago and it pretty much busted up in like a few weeks!  It fell apart in lots of places might I add!  So, even though summer is winding down, I still need to find a replacement for the Daisy Fuentes fiasco of a bag I bought in June.  Also, all the cute fall stuff is out right now and I’ll probably need to buy a cute fall bag right away while I’m at it!  Here are some bags I love but some of these may be hazardous to my wallet:

A dress for an August wedding

I can’t believe I still don’t have a dress for one of my best friends’ wedding and its in like 2 weeks!  I’ve been looking all summer and have found nothing that’s just right.  I’m thinking that if I blog about it, the dress might just appear!  Here are a few I’ve been eyeing up.

grey dress

The top dress is a super cute dress from Ruche but unavailable in that color , the middle one  is from Anthropologie and definitely out of my price range and the bottom dress is from J.Crew and is a little low cut for me.  In theory any one of these would be perfect for an outdoor summer wedding!  If you have any ideas I would love to hear from you.

I ♥ these…

Ikea Catalogue

I just received the new 2010 Ikea Catalogue in the mail. I definitely need to plan a trip!

I would get this cute dressing table for sure.

peacock blue chair

I just love this chair from Crate and Barrel!  I don’t typically love leather furniture, but it happens to be the perfect shade of peacock blue and it matches the paint on my Dining Room ceiling perfectly!  Only one problem though, who pays $1000 for a chair?

   cross stitch

Ok, so this is a bit sassy!  At first glance it looks like another tacky cross-stitch project that someone’s sweet little granny made.  On the double-take it’s actually pretty hilarious!  If you have to have this, you can find it at Sprout Home.

Peony Flower

Too bad I have to wait until next spring for my Peonies to bloom…aren’t they gorgeous?
